At Bakersfield Well & Pump Co., we serve our community and strive to make a difference. Each year, our team holds a field trip for students enrolled in a pumps course at Cal Poly. Our goal when they arrive on-site, is to show them every part of a water well from the ground up. Thus, we review our drilling processes, development, and rehabilitation with these college students. Also, our review highlights specific practices and problems that we typically see with wells in the San Joaquin Valley.
Our field trip usually starts out right in the yard where the action is. We bring Ken Schmidt, a hydrogeologist, to talk with the students. Talking with a professional is a wonderful opportunity for both Schmidt and for the students. Schmidt educates the next generation of water well specialists and the students learn insider information. Then everyone heads out to different sites for the purpose of gaining exposure to what we do best at Bakersfield Well & Pump Co.
